Another set of Cumulative update package ready to download for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2, again only by the way of contacting the CSS.

From our CumulativeUpdate  blog series here is another one to add up as well and this CU6 package is only intended to correct only the problems that are described in this  KBA946608  article in particular pay attention to " SQL Server 2005 post-Service Pack 2 hotfixes that are included in Cumulative Update 6 for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 2" section over there. In any case the best practice is to perform all kinds of additional testing even though the defined problem exists within your environment.

This is amusing from that article ".. .if you are not severely affected by any of these problems, we recommend that you wait for the next SQL Server 2005 service pack that contains the hotfixes in this cumulative update package...".  The big question is Are you ready for SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3?  if so vote now!

So how to get the CU6 package, simply  submit a request to Microsoft Online Customer Services by visiting the CSSSite  link and also pay attention to the paragraph within that KBA: ...  If additional issues occur or any troubleshooting is required, you might have to create a separate service request. The usual support costs will apply to additional support questions and issues that do not qualify for this specific cumulative update package.
